COLORADO SCENIC DRIVES
Colorado boasts 26 scenic byways that serve as a sort of tour map for the state as a whole. Mountains, rock formations, prairie, it’s all there. It's not hard to find beauty if you go looking for it. Here are a few of our favorites in the state.
Colorado Culture Approved: The easy choice here is Trail Ridge Road. Billed as the “Highest Highway in the US”, this is a 50-mile stretch of US-34 that connects Estes Park to Grand Lake via Rocky Mountain National Park. But, for the more adventurous off the beaten path type we highly recommend The Highway of Legends.
Friendly Travel Tips: Trail Ridge road is closed for winter and most of spring due to snowpack making it impassable. Also, you need to have a pass for the National Park in order to access it, so plan ahead for that. If you're going to ride The Highway of legends, try to find a ski resort that was lost in time.
